this is being written, all hell is breaking loose in Seattle
over the World Trade Organization meeting. Sometime back I did
a review of Thomas Friedman's book
on globalization.
Coincidentally I am considering
a purchase of a very expensive digital camera, the Nikon D1 which
is a new product just being rolled out. There is, however, a
body of information being spread regarding linear noise at high
ISO values with this camera via
the internet. Nikon knows about this and knows that it has
a serious problem on its hands even though there has been no
official response yet. Nikon will either fix this problem or
sales for this product will sink like concrete slippers. Why?
Primarily the power of the internet. The interconnectedness of
purchasers the world over is power (one of the first to write
about this phenomenon was a
Danish photojournalist). I believe Globalization is net positive
and democratizing.
Why the story? Friedman wrote a column
in the New York Times today about the W.T.O. with which I
agree. Check it out and let me know what you think.
